Introduction

Tae Kwon Do is a martial art and translates to the “art of kicking and punching”. It has its roots in Korea where it is practiced as a national sport. Tae Kwon Do formally took that name in the 1950’s, however the techniques used in TKD have evolved and been tested over a period of thousands of years.

The school has been providing quality Martial Arts instruction since 1967 when it was established by Richard Sand. Mr. Sand, Grandmaster of the school, holds a 9th Degree Black Belt along with a black belt in Hapkido and instructor rank in Kung Fu and is a practicing attorney, author, and university professor, as well as an inductee of the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame.

The Philadelphia School of Korean Karate teaches the Chung Do Kwan style of Tae Kwon Do. The Chung Do Kwan style incorporates the punishing power of Korea’s jumping kicks with the close in-fighting hand techniques of Japan and China. With years of training, we at the PSKK provide the highest quality instruction both on a physical and mental level. With serious study of the martial art, you will develop increased self-confidence, self discipline, better self-control and ultimately a more balanced and productive lifestyle.
